Client : Australian Social Science Data Archive , The Australian National University, Australia

Based at the Australian National University, Australian Social Science Data Archive. The service provides access and support for a range of social science datasets, promoting and facilitating increased and more effective use of data in research, learning and teaching.

Service Provided:

Rao’s Infocube provided a digitization service for 19,000 pages, with a double keying system, using a tailor-made comparison tool which enables a 99.999% accuracy. The output is XML with codebook v5 format, provided with a comparison tool for the double keying system.

Client : Economic and Social Data Service (ESDS) Qualidata, University of Essex, UK

Based at the University of Essex, ESDS Qualidata is a specialist service of the ESDS led by the UK Data Archive. The service provides access and support for a range of social science qualitative datasets, promoting and facilitating increased and more effective use of data in research, learning and teaching.

Service Provided:

Rao’s Infocube provided a digitization service for 35,000 pages, with a double keying system, using a tailor-made comparison tool which enables a 99.999% accuracy. The output is MS-Word and XML with TEI format, provided with a comparison tool for the double keying system.

Client : Online Historical Population Reports Project (OHPR), University of Essex, UK
 
The Online Historical Population Project, in partnership with the Centre for Data Digitisation and Analysis (CDD), is part of the Arts and Humanities Data Service (AHDS) History, which collects, preserves and promotes the use of digital resources resulting from or supporting historical research, learning and teaching. The aim of OHPR is to develop a web-based user interface allowing browsing, searching, viewing and downloading images of historical population reports; the interface is to enable viewing and downloading of machine-readable versions of statistical tables contained within the reports.

This project includes the digitisation of almost 600 volumes of census reports, reports of the Registrars-General and associated published statistical material emanating from both the English and Scottish General Registers Offices and their predecessors, from 1801 through to 1933, along with a selection of associated material in The National Archives (TNA) giving insight into the administrative procedure followed in the taking of the census; and the collection of registration material.

The final system will be capable of delivering, either image, or in textual format the entire collection of published census materials for the British Isles and all registration material for England, Wales and Scotland published before World War II.

Service Provided:

Rao’s Infocube provided a digitization service of 12,000 pages, with a double keying system, using a tailor-made comparison tool which enables a 99.999% accuracy. The output is MS-Excel, provided with a comparison tool for the double keying system.

The success of this project has resulted in another contract being awarded, which is currently being undertaken.

Client : Sibar Group (India) Ltd:

The Sibar Group is one of the major multi-area company groups in India, including media, education, and health care.

Part of this group, the Sibar Institute of Dental Sciences is one of the leading private, government approved, Dental Colleges in India, currently undertaking a 5-year research program, intended to gather a vast amount of data.

The Sibar Cancer Research and Treatment Centre is currently conducting clinical trials in conjunction with two other major hospitals in Mumbai and Bangalore.

Service Provided:

Rao's InfoCube has now taken over as the information processing partner for Sibar Institute of Dental Sciences. This involves the capture of an enormous amount of data over a five year period. This data is ported into a spreadsheet and subsequently into an MS-Access database This database is accessed through an intranet website for analysis, study and distribution.

Rao's InfoCube provides:

  • statistical and informatics expertise for investigators;
  • expertise in data management by storage of data for all basic science, clinical and behavioural studies;
  • coordination of the preparing of data collection forms
  • development of a standardized reporting format across all studies conducted by investigators;
  • database development, maintenance, monitoring, and management of study databases;
  • development and maintenance of a computerized data quality control system.

Rao's InfoCube will also:

  • develop statistical methodology related to studies conducted by SCTRC investigators, to enhance study design, analysis, and interpretation of results;
  • train investigators and their staff in data collection, quality assurance procedures, and statistical methodology;
  • and participate in the preparation of study presentations and publications.
